Become a Member

You belong at Maybelle Center. Because you matter. Just as you are.

If you’ve ever felt invisible, judged, or pushed aside, you’re not alone. You don’t have to explain your story or justify your presence. You just have to show up. You’re welcome here whether you’re navigating mental health challenges, financial hardship, or anything else life has handed you. Through arts, music, social groups, and weekly visits, you’ll find people who know your name and are glad to see you. Because that’s what belonging feels like.

Membership is free.

All of our programming is offered at no cost. Most activities take place at Maybelle Center on the corner of 6th and Couch in Old Town. If getting to our building is a challenge, social visits can be arranged at a more convenient location for you. We’re also open to partnering with you to bring programs to your building.

Is Maybelle Center for you?

In some circles, “membership” means exclusivity. Here, it means being invited in. We call everyone in our community a “Member” because that’s what you are: part of our community. If you don’t meet the criteria below, let’s talk about the best way to get involved.

You’re a good fit if you:

Are 18 years or older

Want to connect with others

Identify as low-income

Currently have stable housing

Live in the downtown Portland area or can easily access the Center in Old Town

Commit to treating others with kindness and respect
