Health Begins with Belonging

We believe health is more than medical care. It’s being known. It’s being connected. It’s having places where you matter.

Maybelle Center is a community health organization powered by the belief that every person matters. For over three decades, we’ve walked alongside Portlanders pushed to the margins by economic poverty and mental health stigma. Through a relationship-centered approach to assisted living, affordable housing, and neighborhood-based social health outreach, we address isolation at its root—strengthening well-being and stability.

Donors and Community Partners

Together, we address one of the most urgent and overlooked drivers of health: social isolation. As a Donor or Community Partner, your support helps transform isolation into belonging and strengthens the systems that make long-term health and housing stability possible.

Members and Residents

At Maybelle Center, belonging comes first. You’ll be welcomed into a community where you are known for who you are and not your current circumstances. For Members, it’s a safer and supportive place to come and connect with friends and neighbors. For Residents, it’s a supportive place to call home.

Staff and
Volunteers

Belonging doesn’t happen by accident—it’s built through relationships. As a staff member or volunteer, you’ll help create environments where dignity is restored and health can grow for people impacted by poverty and mental health stigma. Apply to join our skilled team as a full or part-time employee or volunteer.

Why Belonging Matters

Health is more than medical services. When people experience belonging—being seen, heard, and valued—their physical, mental, and social health improves.

Belonging isn’t a bonus.
Belonging is health.

And together with Portland’s healthcare and housing partners, we transform isolation into belonging—strengthening the systems that make long-term health and stability possible.
