What most interests you in life?

Tony (he/him): I am a cook. I like music, and I often sing at karaoke. I jog every day. Above all, I like people.

When did you first hear about Maybelle Center?

It was six months ago. I saw two staff posting a flyer in my apartment. I asked if I could be a member, and they happily said yes. I was excited by the information and the brief conversation I had with the staff. I jumped in the following week after filling out and signing the membership agreement.

How does it feel now?

I am very happy. I socialize with people. I bring food or cookies and share them with members. I am a regular attendee and one of the performers at karaoke. I love it. What was your first experience like? I felt I found myself when members and staff complemented my hand-drawn dragon sketches. I saw your art displayed on the Community Room wall. What magnificent work! Tell me more about it. I am happy to hear that. I have been working on this since my early childhood. So, I can say it grew up with me. I still enjoy doing it multiple times with different sizes. That dragon is my buddy. I love it. It reinforces my inner inclination to artistic works.

What motivates you to stay involved at Maybelle Center?

I love the space we have here. It goes beyond socializing. Karaoke and all other activities keep me coming regularly. I appreciate members and staff making Maybelle Center my home away from home.
