If you missed the premier of Maybelle Community Singers’ collaboration with the Oregon Symphony, here’s your chance! The Oregon Symphony and Maybelle Community Singers have been invited back to the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall to record emergency shelter intake form on August 31, 2018. This one-hour concert will be free to the public with a pay-what-you-will suggested contribution. All proceeds will be donated to the organizations who collaborated with Oregon Symphony during the Sounds of Home series (including Maybelle Center for Community).
Act quick. Tickets will be available to the general public on Monday, July 30th and are expected to go fast.
Gabriel Kahane’s emergency shelter intake form is a 50-minute commissioned piece examining deep poverty in America through the lens of homelessness and housing insecurity. Maybelle Community Singers and the Oregon Symphony originally collaborated on the project in May 2018, culminating in a series of three concerts at Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.
