Grief, loss, and memorials

Remembering friends

Just like the deep sense of love we have for a close friend who moves away, friendships don't just evaporate at death. The emotional bonds linger in our hearts even if we can’t be in the same room anymore.

A memorial is a time set aside to celebrate and memorialize a person's life. Maybelle Center plans and hosts memorial services free-of-charge for members and people that members care about.

One way we can honor our friendships is by participating in memorials or sharing our favorite memories.

Death, grief, and loss support

Supporting members during times of death, grief, or loss is an integral part of the emotional and spiritual support work we do at Maybelle Center. Grief support can also include home and hospital visits, pastoral care, grief groups, and one-on-one support for members, volunteers, and staff.

You can read stories on our blog to find how we also use creative expression and opportunities to reflect on our relationships with ourselves, the sacred, and others to make meaning of our life story.

“I don’t think relationships ever end. If we enter into any relationship – even a simple conversation – with the idea that you’re willing to be changed by it, those relationships just live in and become part of who we are.”
