Mosaic Art Class

An event every week that begins at 1:00 pm on Friday, repeating until August 13, 2021
You can design your own 1’ mosaic tile! Crystal will be leading mosaic art classes on Friday afternoons in the courtyard during July and August. You’ll receive a kit with various shapes and shades of colored glass, contact paper, and a simple design based on where your tile is located in the mural. For example, your tile may have a diagonal line and instructions to put warm or cool colors on each side. The rest is up to you! After you’re finished, Crystal and Todd (mosaic artists) will grout and mount each tile as part of the mosaic on a courtyard wall and include your name on the mural plaque.

About the Project
We are launching a joint Maybelle Center/Macdonald Residence mural project for 2021 to celebrate our 30th anniversary. The 20’ x 25’ mosaic mural titled “Confluence” will be installed in the courtyard between Maybelle Center and Macdonald Residence in early September. The mosaic contains 500 tiles to be designed by residents, members, and donors with colored glass gleaned from the recycling container at Bullseye Glass. Like each of us, every one of the 1’ tiles is integral. You can find more project info at maybellecenter.org/mosaic.
