And we’re back (in-person)!
Five members have met with staff each Tuesday to draft a safe reopening plan. The committee is launching limited in-person gathering trials in June.
As we’re slowly and tentatively emerging from our pandemic cocoons, occasionally, we get glimpses of the beauty that’s developing – catching a stranger’s unmasked smile or the warmth of a friend’s embrace.
While we’re not quite ready to rip off the masks and fully swing open the doors, we’re happy to share that we have started limited in-person gatherings Monday through Friday!
Since late April, five of our members have met with staff each Tuesday to draft a safe reopening plan. Our most difficult conversations have centered around vaccinations, and several members expressed only feeling safe indoors with others who were fully vaccinated.
We’ve been wrestling with how to honor each other’s comfort with safety measures while acknowledging many of our members may be unvaccinated. It’s a delicate balance and one that is perpetually changing as COVID restrictions ease. As a trial for future gatherings, our reopening committee is hosting limited in-person events during June, in addition to continuing virtual programming.
You can see our full calendar on our website, but here are a few of the things we’re most excited about:
• Our choir now sings each Monday outdoors.
• Members gather for “Community Room in the Park” each Wednesday.
• We’re piloting small gatherings in our Community Room on Tuesdays called “Games & Gab.”
• Our women’s group (Too Blessed to be Stressed) will meet outdoors beginning June 11th.
• Members can also schedule one-on-one appointments with staff in our office as needed.
We can't wait to see everyone again soon!
