Andrew Brown (he/him)
Program Director
Andrew considers himself “very helpful most of the time” and has worked in the non-profit sector for over 15 years. Starting as a professional woodworker and artist allowed him to transition from no-profit to non-profit enterprises seamlessly. Andrew moved to Portland in 2011 and has been addressing houselessness, anti-poverty, and affordable housing in our region ever since.
Andrew lives in SE Portland with his spouse of 20 years and enjoys cooking, music, and random esoterica about trees.
Jenna Padbury (she/her)
Education Coordinator
Born and raised north of Chicago, IL, Jenna Padbury has been calling North Portland home for more than a decade. While earning her Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education, Jenna quickly realized that the world is her classroom. An opportunity to work at the University of Portland and to earn her Master’s Degree in Pastoral Ministry there allowed her to intentionally weave experiential education and service-learning into her life’s work. Working closely with community partners and faculty to create transformational learning experiences for students and community members is her constant goal.
Outside of work you might find Jenna exploring random neighborhoods, reading a good book under a tree, or connecting with friends.
Jennifer Wyant (she/her)
Member Activities Coordinator
Jennifer loves using art and storytelling as a tool for social change. She has spent much of her career building community programs and events that bring people together in meaningful ways and believes that sharing our time, our stories, and seeking ways to collaborate are the keys to understanding what connects us. She studied Communications and Sociology at Portland State University, with a focus in reflective conversation and group facilitation.
Jennifer is a music enthusiast and amateur record collector. Some of her favorite things are dancing around the kitchen while cooking for family and friends, hiking the PNW, and creating art—whatever that means in the moment.
Mary Bedford-Carter (she/her)
Member Engagement Manager
Mary's a recent transplant from California. She brings over a decade of experience as a human services professional. She also served as an Adjunct Instructor at her alma mater, creating an inclusive space that encouraged and celebrated differences. Mary holds a BS in Human Services and MA in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Chemical Dependency from Notre Dame de Namur University (NDNU).
When Mary's not busy championing workplace inclusivity, she spends time with her family, golfing, paddleboarding, volunteering, traveling, teaching, hiking, and exploring genealogy.
Shane Skinner (they/he)
Program Coordinator
Community and service work captivated Shane as a teen. Since then, he's been a nonprofit "jack-of-all-trades," serving on boards, producing community and regional theater, organizing events, and doing loads of educational and activism work - all while keeping day jobs as a server, bartender, or licensed massage therapist.
When Shane's not at work, you can find them hiking, bicycling, or seeking out some sort of Portland whimsy with his partner, Alec, and dog, Frodo.
Siggy Torfason (she/her)
Member Support Coordinator
Siggy was born in Iceland and raised in the United States. She is a state-licensed Drug and Alcohol counselor (CADC-I) who advocates for medicated-assisted treatment and harm reduction. She is studying for her bachelor's degree in social science at Portland State University. Siggy draws on her 15 years of experience as a person in long-term recovery to give Maybelle Center’s members trauma-informed support in Competency.
Outside of work, Siggy enjoys walking with her pug Gracie Elliott and reading her endless collection of books on her Kindle.
Operations & Admin Staff
Atalanta Powell (she/her)
Development Director
Atalanta has spent the last eight years in non-profit fundraising and communications, most recently at St. Mary's Academy and the BASIC Fund. Before dedicating herself to the social sector, she worked as a producer, director, and writer in the film industry. Over the years, she has developed a profound respect for the diversity of community and feels grateful to be able to respectfully represent the stories shared with her. Atalanta has a BA from The Evergreen State College, where she focused on the intersection of social history and media.
Outside of work you will find her taking bike rides with her husband and young son, and puttering around the garden with a very friendly orange tabby cat.
Jillianne Bandstra (she/her)
Communications Director
Wordsmithing is her nemesis. The first in her family to attend college, Jillianne tucks an MBA and MS in Adult Education under her belt and now can sling jargon and acronyms like the best of them. After defecting from corporate marketing over ten years ago, Jillianne’s immersed herself in local non-profits, where she pushes organizations to stop hiding behind fancy words and find their authentic voice.
When not at Maybelle, you’ll find Jillianne navigating her kids’ Lego minefields, pretending she can run, and defending her pandemic plants from furry housemates.
Michelle Meyer (she/her)
Executive Director
Michelle has a passion for facilitating connections among and between people and the causes they care about. For more than twenty years she has worked as a dedicated fundraiser at a variety of non-profits. In addition to cultivating resources, she has experience working with non-profit boards, organizational management, and strategic planning. She brings considerable experience and drive for organizational culture-building to her work, as well as a collaborative style, and deep commitment to fostering principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Savannah Webber (she/her)
Communications Coordinator
Savannah is overjoyed to return to the familiar yet completely new world of Maybelle Center! She used to work at Maybelle Center as a Development Coordinator. Savannah received her Bachelor of Arts in Visual Culture & Psychology from Franklin University Switzerland. As the new Communications Coordinator, Savannah looks forward to the work and growth ahead. She plans to contribute her enthusiasm for storytelling, a sense of humor, and a detailed approach to project-planning.
When not at work, Savannah likes to make art, bake, hike, and convince others that her cat is the cutest. She also tends to collect more books than she could ever read.
Tom Foy (he/him)
Development Coordinator
Tom has almost 20 years of experience working within development, philanthropy and database management focused roles for a variety of non-profit organizations on both sides of the pond, such as Botanical Gardens, a Zoo, a Foodbank, and most recently a children’s cancer charity.
Originally from London UK, he moved to Portland in late 2018 and happily calls this home. Outside of work, his main passion is listening to, writing, and performing music. He also enjoys cooking, is a big movie fan, going on adventures with his partner around Portland and beyond, and of course cheering on the mighty Timbers and Thorns soccer.
Torie Tonelli (she/her)
Operations and Administrative Coordinator
Look out, world, because Torie's going to shake things up! Torie recently graduated from the University of Portland with a double major in Psychology and Sociology. She brings a deep passion for social justice, knowledge of psychological interventions, and exuberance to everything she does–first as an intern and now full-time.
When she's not at work, you might spot Torie running around the city, diving into her newest favorite novel at the library, or experimenting with new vegetarian recipes alongside her partner, Mac.
V Durost (they/them)
Finance and Operations Director
V has over 20 years of experience in non-profit finance, with recent positions at Green Empowerment and Hollywood Theatre. They have a BA in Art History and Women's Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, but it’s V’s employee-centric lens that truly makes them an invaluable part of our Maybelle team.
Mo (he/him)
Office Snuggler
A sucker for head nuzzles, table scraps, and early morning couch snuggles, Mo has a way of gently easing himself into your lap and your heart. Behind Momo's shaggy Goldendoodle coat, his deep brown eyes are just waiting to lock with yours. As Maybelle's hairiest team member, he's compensated with lots of ear scratches, dog treats, and an occasional "free lunch" from his coworkers' desk.
